These terms tell the Users of the Site (‘You’) the rules for using the BEIS Alumni Site (‘Site’).

The BEIS Alumni Site is managed and controlled by the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS). In these terms BEIS is also referred to as ‘We’ or ‘Our’ or ‘Us’.

Goals and objectives of the Site
The goal of the Site is to provide a channel that will allow BEIS to continuously engage and interact with our ex-employees.
The objectives of the Site are:
- To provide a great source of networking and bring together ex-BEIS employees, allowing reconnection with past colleagues.
- To keep ex-BEIS employees informed on what is happening in BEIS
- To provide a central channel for ex-BEIS employees to share their experiences, achievements and career journeys.
Using BEIS Alumni Site
You must register before you use the Site.
By using our Site, you confirm that You accept these terms of use and that You agree to comply with them. If You do not agree to these terms, You must not use Our Site and your registration to use Our Site will not be accepted
We recommend that You print a copy of these terms for future reference.
You agree to use the Site only for lawful purposes. You must also use it in a way that does not infringe the rights of, or restrict or inhibit the use and enjoyment of this Site by anyone else.
We may update the Site from time to time. We can change or remove content at any time without notice.

- Using the Site to send offensive or harassing material or comments to BEIS staff (past and current) or other users.
- Publishing defamatory and/or knowingly false material about BEIS, the Site, BEIS staff (past and current) or other users.
- Revealing confidential or personal information about BEIS, their staff (past and/or current) or other users - including financial information and information relating to our customers, business plans and/or policies.
- Introducing any form of malicious software or transmit any data, send or upload any material that contains viruses, Trojan horses, worms, time-bombs, keystroke loggers, spyware, adware or any other harmful programs or similar computer code designed to adversely affect the operation of any computer software or hardware into the Site network.
- Use the Site in any way that breaches any applicable local, national or international law or regulation.
- For the purpose of harming or attempting to harm minors in any way.
- To bully, insult, intimidate or humiliate any person.
- To send, knowingly receive, upload, download, use or re-use any material which does not comply with our acceptable use for the Site
- To transmit, or procure the sending of, any unsolicited or unauthorised advertising or promotional material or any other form of similar solicitation (spam).
- To upload terrorist content.
You also agree:
- Not to reproduce, duplicate, copy or re-sell any part of our site in contravention of the provisions of our terms of website use.
- Not to access without authority, interfere with, damage or disrupt:
- any part of our site;
- any equipment or network on which our site is stored;
- any software used in the provision of our site; or
- any equipment or network or software owned or used by any third party.

BEIS is the owner of this Site, and the material published on it. Those works are protected by copyright laws and all rights are reserved.
You may reproduce a piece of content from our Site by printing off a copy and/or downloading a copy but only for your personal use.
You must not modify the reproduced copies of any piece of content you have printed off or downloaded in any way, and You must not use any illustrations, photographs, video or audio sequences or any graphics separately from any accompanying text.

Site Suspension and/or withdrawal
Our Site is made available free of charge to all users
We do not guarantee that Our Site, or any content on it, will always be available or be uninterrupted. We may suspend or withdraw or restrict the availability of all or any part of our site for business and operational reasons. We will try to give you reasonable notice of any suspension or withdrawal.

Keeping your Account/Profile Safe

We collect information about you in accordance with our Privacy Notice and the Cookie Policy. By using the Site, you agree to us collecting this information and confirm that any data you provide is accurate.
Cyber/Virus Protection
We make every effort to check and test the Site for viruses at every stage of production. You must make sure that the way you use BEIS Alumni Site does not expose you to the risk of viruses, malicious computer code or other forms of interference which can damage your computer system.
You are responsible for configuring your information technology, computer programmes and platform to access our site. You should use your own virus protection software.”
We’re not responsible for any loss, disruption or damage to your data or computer system that might happen when you use BEIS Alumni Site.

Request to remove content
You can ask for content to be removed from the Site. We will remove content:
- in order to comply with data protection legislation covering the rights and freedoms of individuals
- if it breaches copyright laws, contains sensitive personal data or material that may be considered obscene or defamatory
Contact us to ask for content to be removed. You will need to send us the web address (URL) of the content and explain why you think it should be removed. We will reply to let you know whether we will remove it.
We remove content at our discretion. You can still request information under the Freedom of Information Act and the Data Protection Act.

These terms and conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales.
